Piedmont Henry Hospital officials announced the first week of September that nearly $200,000 was raised for its Emergency Department at the recent Garden Party, its biggest fundraiser of the year.

The 38th annual event took place Aug. 25 at Eagle’s Landing Country Club. The total included $100,000 in contributions from the hospital’s Emergency Department physicians according to a statement released by the hospital. Piedmont Henry’s Emergency Department is reportedly the busiest in the entire Piedmont Healthcare system, serving nearly 90,000 patients every year.

Officials reported that the hospital has embarked on several renovation projects to expand the Emergency Department’s capacity to meet the growing healthcare needs of the community, including construction of a new 20-bed observation unit currently underway and slated for completion in October.
