Henry County leaders held a memorial service Wednesday to honor those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on the nation.
Henry County Commission Chairwoman June Wood marked the occasion with a proclamation in honor of the day while County Manager Cheri Hobson-Matthews reflected on the importance of the remembrance.
Other speakers during the service included Henry Fire Department Captain Janet Slagle, who gave a timeline account of the events of the day, and Henry resident Joseph Parker Cole, who talked about how the attack influenced his decision to enlist in the Marines.
