The Henry County Police Department’s Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic was named the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety’s MATEN Agency of the Year at the Georgia State Awards meeting Jan. 19.

MATEN is the law enforcement agreement of the Metro Atlanta Traffic Enforcement Network that spans throughout the entire state of Georgia and includes law enforcement agencies from all over the state.

Henry County’s HEAT Unit officers have been honored several times in the past for their traffic and DUI enforcement efforts.

The unit was honored Jan. 20 by HCPD chief Keith Nichols.
