The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its Oct. 1 regular meeting to approve a supplemental funding agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation for the first phase of the Panola Mountain Greenway Trail.

The project was bid out in June but the bid amount exceeded the available funding, and the county coordinated with the Atlanta Regional Commission to secure a federal Transportation Alternative Project allocation of $1,044,138 to add to the $1,135,600 in funding already in place. A 20 percent county match totaling $544,935 will provide the remaining money needed for the $2.7 million project.

A resolution awarding a bid for construction of the project was removed from the meeting agenda with no action taken.
