An event center that has been operating in a residential area for several months was denied a conditional use request by the Henry County Board of Commissioners at its Aug. 15 meeting.

The property on Rocky Creek Road has been the site of numerous weddings and charity events over the past two years but a number of neighbors have complained about noise and traffic. The owners have applied for and received special event permits for each individual event, and earlier this year the commissioners changed the county ordinance to limit how many of those can be obtained for a single location in a given time.

Up to 19 events which have already been permitted will still be allowed at the property.
