The Henry County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution at its Oct. 16 regular meeting stating its objection to a proposed annexation by Locust Grove.

County officials received notice from the city of its intent to annex 98.33 acres and change the zoning from residential to manufacturing, which the county contends is not consistent with its future land use plan and will result in a substantial change in the land’s intensity of use as well as demands on infrastructure.

It was noted during the meeting that the county attorney is authorized to initiate proper legal proceedings to enjoin annexation and/or initiate arbitration proceedings.
