Less than 18 months after hiring its current superintendent, the Henry County Board of Education extended her contract and has given her a substantial raise.

More than one board member at the March public meeting called Mary Elizabeth Davis “a breath of fresh air” and praised her work since starting the job in November of 2017. She began at that time with a three-year contract at $213,000 per year, but that contract was terminated and the new deal which took effect March 12 calls for a $300,000 annual salary over the same length of time.

If she fulfills this contract, Davis will have been on the job longer than each of her three immediate predecessors.
