The Henry Zoning Advisory Board voted at its Nov. 8 regular meeting to recommend approval of a rezoning request for 26.53 acres on the south side of Mt. Carmel Road, east of North Bridges Road and just east of Interstate 75.

The requested change is from RA to RM (multifamily residential), and the applicant has proposed to construct apartment buildings in a “big house” style, proposing a 275-unit apartment complex with a net density of 13.71 units per acre. This complies with the future land use map’s designation of high-density residential development for this site, according to a county staff report.

The request will now be heard by the Henry County Board of Commissioners in the near future.
