Henry County board condemns land for road widening

Henry County now owns all of the necessary right-of-way for the planned widening of West Village Parkway.
The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its Dec. 3 regular meeting to approve the acquisition of four separate parcels of property by eminent domain condemnation related to the widening of West Village Parkway.
The total amount of land equals approximately three acres and consists of right-of-way, permanent easement, temporary easement and driveway easement, according to county staff documents. They are reportedly the final parcels needed to complete the right-of-way acquisition for the project. The vote was part of the consent agenda and there was no discussion of the issue at the meeting. The plan is to widen West Village Parkway from Fairview Road to the Clayton County line and the project will be funded by the county’s SPLOST.
