The Henry County Board of Commissioners formally adopted a supplier inclusion policy outlining measures that the Purchasing Department will take to enhance its efforts to reach to all companies wishing to business with the county.

The action took place at the board’s Sept. 19 meeting. Officials said the county is committed to diversity and non-discrimination in its policies and “will make a good-faith effort to utilize local businesses, small business enterprises, DBE businesses and female-owned businesses throughout the procurement process.” The move was partially motivated by recent county purchases of vehicles and equipment from dealerships outside the county through a state contract with no efforts made to solicit bids from local businesses.
