More than $6,000 has been raised for a Lilburn police officer and his family after their Barrow County home was destroyed in a fire last week.

City officials hosted a fundraiser and cookout for Capt. Mike Johnson and his family on Tuesday. About 300 people showed up at Nash Pavilion to show their support.

Donations can still be made to the City of Lilburn-Mike Johnson Family Benefit Account at any Wells Fargo Bank branch. The Lilburn Police Department is also accepting donations of gift cards, checks and money orders.
