The heavily-used Marietta Road bridge over Canton Creek will be shut down for a week for repairs, said Canton city officials. The bridge will close at 10 p.m. Feb. 14 and is set to reopen Feb. 21.

Officials said there may be increased noise in the early evening and traffic backups as the 24-hour-a-day project proceeds. City Engineer Dave Hatabian said work on the 80-year-old structure will involve shoring up bridge beams, making other structural repairs and retoppping the bridge surface.

Hatabian said detours will be posted and provisions are being made for local resident, business and pedestrian access. Information: 770-704-1513.
