A "Code Orange" smog alert is in effect for Monday.

The Clean Air Campaign issued its first smog alert of the year, saying Monday's air quality will be unhealthy for sensitive groups because of the predicted concentration of ground-level ozone.

People with heart or lung disease, including asthma, older adults and children should cut back or reschedule strenuous outdoor activities from noon to 7 p.m.

Monday's high temperature will be 91, according to the National Weather Service.

The Clean Air Campaign is predicting an air quality index of 101, the lowest possible number to trigger an orange alert. The index has five color-coded levels. Green is the best, followed by yellow, orange, red and purple.
