The Heart of South DeKalb Festival is back for another year of family-friendly activities and celebration.

Scheduled for Sept. 27 and 28 at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center, the annual festival will feature a parade, live music, vendors, a kids’ zone, a car and motorcycle showcase and more.

The free celebration is organized by DeKalb County District 3 Commissioner Larry Johnson’s office, and is designed to “highlight and promote South DeKalb.”

The theme of this year’s festival is centered around DeKalb’s educators.

The Porter Sanford center is located at 3181 Rainbow Dr. in the Decatur area. The parade is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Festivities on Friday, Sept. 27 will begin at 6 p.m. with live entertainment and food vendors.
