Nov 10, 2010The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled a Nov. 17 nomination hearing for Steve Jones, a nominee of President Barack Obama to the U.S. District Court in Atlanta.
The federal court in Atlanta has four vacancies, and Obama has so far nominated two people to fill them: Jones, a Superior Court judge from Athens, and attorney Amy Totenberg, the former general counsel for the Atlanta Board of Education.
If approved by the Judiciary Committee, Jones' nomination will then go to the full Senate for a final confirmation vote.
