Head-on crash in Walton County kills one

A head-on collision in Walton County Sunday morning left one man dead and another critically injured, the Georgia State Patrol said.

The accident occurred around 7:15 a.m. on Ga. 138 near Ga. 81 in Walnut Grove.

Lt. Paul Cosper said a westbound Subaru Legacy crossed the center line and slammed into an eastbound Dodge van carrying four people. One of the Dodge occupants was killed and another critically hurt. The two other passengers suffered less serious injuries. The Subaru driver also was seriously hurt.

Cosper said at least two people were airlifted to hospitals.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
