Haylard Health in Alpharetta wants to know who residents consider as their personal hero through a promotion honoring area first responders.

The medical technology company announced the start of its "Fist Bump for Heroes" social media campaign this week, and is now asking metro Atlanta residents to nominate a first responder they consider a hero.

The goal of the "Fist Bump for Heroes" program is to recognize the everyday sacrifices and risks first responders make in the field, according to Haylard Health's campaign web page. The campaign also aims to show solidarity with local firefighters, emergency responders and law enforcement officers — locally and across the nation.

Residents can make nominations by submitting a photo of the first responder, along with a few sentences on their community involvement and how they exceed expectations on the job.

The contest runs through Dec. 31. Haylard Health will announce winners in January.

Contest participants can enter here to make nominations, or post a photo on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #HeroFistBump.
