The Henry County Zoning Advisory Board voted Jan. 10 to recommend approval for a rezoning request from heavy manufacturing to general commercial for a one-acre site at the southwest corner of Hwy. 19/41 and Upper Woolsey Road in Hampton.

The property owner made the request to allow a prospective tenant to operate a vehicle rental business similar to a U-Haul facility. The property in question is currently vacant after a concrete business, for which the site was zoned for heavy manufacturing in the 1990s, vacated the premises about a year ago.

No one addressed the board in opposition to the request.
