Hampton Mayor Steve Hutchison notified Henry County Board of Commissioners chair June Wood in a letter that the city is not interested in discussing any possible agreement regarding the county’s proposed TSPLOST referendum until the county makes good on road improvements that were to be taken care under the 2010 service delivery strategy agreement.

Hutchison noted seven roads under that agreement which have not been addressed at all by the county, and he also mentioned the county’s lagging negotiations this year for a new SDS. That resolution was approved by the county June 30, four days after receiving the letter from Hutchison.

A scheduled joint meeting with the county and the cities to discuss the TSPLOST was cancelled less than a day ahead of time, citing staff exposure to COVID-19.
