Nearly 300 volunteers from at least 30 states are working to finish 8 Habitat for Humanity houses in Jonesboro by Friday.

Nearly 300 volunteers from at least 30 states are working to finish eight Habitat for Humanity houses in Jonesboro by Friday. Volunteers install rooftop trusses over the front porch of one house.

The build is a recipient of a Whirlpool Building Blocks program, where Whirlpool brings in volunteers from around the country and supplies appliances.

Ebonie Reeves, from McDonough, helps support a beam on what will be her new home in the Avery neighborhood in Clayton County. House recipients receive an interest free 30-year loan from Habitat for Humanity and help to build their home.
