A Gwinnett County woman is facing charges of reckless driving and vehicular homicide in a DeKalb County crash.

The wreck happened May 10 on Wesley Chapel Road outside Decatur, killing Decatur resident Brian Rooks. Neketa Mayfield, 30, of Norcross was arrested last week.

Warrants allege she was driving her Volkswagen Passat too fast and "abruptly" drove into the same lane as Rooks' Smart car.

Rooks' car was pushed about 100 feet, and Mayfield's crashed into a nearby yard, according to an incident report. Both were taken to the hospital.

The charges weren't brought against Mayfield until Dec. 1.

She's been released on $5,000 bond.
