Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services department will get new cardio monitors.
Commissioners on Jan. 19 approved the purchase of 15 Physio Control LIFEPAK cardiac monitors and authorized the department to use old monitors for a trade-in allowance worth $40,000.
The total purchase of $521,706 is funded 72 percent by the 2005 SPLOST fund and 28 percent by the 2014 SPLOST fund.
The department recommends replacing all monitors at once since the equipment requires very specialized training. If two different monitors/defibrillators are being used it could result in a delay of life-saving treatment.
