In honor of Gwinnett County’s bicentennial, the county shelter is offering discounted pet adoptions.

The cost of adopting a pet from the shelter has been reduced to $18.18. The county was established in 1818.

It typically costs $90 to adopt a dog from the shelter and $30 to adopt a cat. Prices for livestock and exotic pets are not posted on the shelter’s website. The shelter is located at 884 Winder Highway in Lawrenceville.

The adoption discounts are one of several special events and promotions Gwinnett County is holding throughout 2018 to celebrate its 200th anniversary. The county is holding a series of history tours and performed a mass wedding in January.
