Due to a power outage, the weekend is starting early for students at one Gwinnett County middle school.

Richards Middle School in Lawrenceville “is the only school affected by this closure,” Gwinnett schools’ spokeswoman Sloan Roach said in a statement.

All other Gwinnett schools are operating on their usual schedules, she said.

While students have the day off, school staffers do not. They have to report at the regular time, Roach said.
