Between driving a special education bus for Gwinnett County Public Schools and parenting twins, Emma McGowan also somehow makes time to be an international track and field champion.
McGowan won gold among women over 50 at the World Masters Track and Field Championship this month, representing the United States in Malaga, Spain. She set an American record in her gold medal 400-meter run, and earned silver in the 200-meter race, according to a district press release.

The lifelong athlete has not slowed down with age; this was her first time competing in the 50 and over age group. World Masters Athletics events are for athletes aged 35 and older.
“I’m a competitive person in sports, and as long as I can keep running with no major injuries, I’ll keep going,” McGowan said in the release.
McGowan’s latest win makes her a three-time gold medalist, previously earning gold in the 100 meter race at the 2015 competition in Lyon, France and at the 2017 competition in Perth, Australia.
McGowan is now back behind the wheel with some new bling.
