The Gwinnett County Police Department is looking for new volunteer chaplains of all religious denominations.

The department uses chaplains to assist at the scene of “traumatic events” when victims, witnesses and bystanders may need help. Chaplains also help members of the police department who are dealing with personal stress or family issues, or who may need help understanding the employee assistance programs available to them, according to a department release.

Applicants must be an ordained member of the clergy, and must have been ordained for at least two years. Those applying from outside the department must have the endorsement of their religious organization in the form of a letter or a copy of their certification.

Applicants will undergo a physical exam and a background check before starting the role.

The application to serve as a Gwinnett County Police Department chaplain is available here.
