Gwinnett County has had four officers die on duty. In 1964, officers Marvin Gravitt, Jerry Everett and Ralph Davis were shot and killed while responding to a suspicious activity call. The officers had found several people stripping a car before they were shot. Three suspects were convicted of the killings and sentenced to death, but their sentences were later commuted to life in prison.

Officer Chris Magill was killed in 1993 when a drunk driver struck his patrol vehicle on I-85. Magill was waiting for a tow truck to pick up his police car when the collision occurred.

The ceremony Tuesday will last 20 minutes and include a three-volley salute, taps and a helicopter fly-over. It will begin at 10 a.m. at the Gwinnett County Police Department Training Center at 854 Winder Highway in Lawrenceville.
