The Gwinnett County Police Department has cancelled the Youth Police Academy for this summer. Interested applicants are encouraged to follow up for details about the 2021 session.

The Youth Police Academy is designed to educate middle school and high school students that live in Gwinnett about the police department and how officers enforce local and state laws. The goal of the free program is to create and develop a relationship between students and the police department.

The curriculum includes both classroom and practical application. Activities include CPR/AED, emergency vehicle driving, taser demonstrations, crime scene investigations, accident investigations, internet safety, criminal investigations, and gang awareness. Participants receive K9 demonstrations, aviation and motorcycle demonstrations, DUI investigations, and SWAT/EOD.
