There are more than 100 dogs and cats available for adoption at the Lawrenceville shelter, according to its website. Many of the animals have been examined by veterinarians, vaccinated and either spayed or neutered, meaning they are available to take home the day of adoption. Those who have not been vaccinated and spayed or neutered must undergo those procedures before being released.

The Gwinnett County Animal Shelter will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on St. Patrick’s Day. It is located at 884 Winder Highway in Lawrenceville.
