More than a month after having winning $250,000, a Gwinnett County man came forward Tuesday to claim his Mega Millions prize.

Akbar Ali, a financial services manager from Lilburn, told Georgia Lottery officials he waited to claim his prize from the April 20 drawing to solidify plans on how he’ll use the money.

Top on the list is providing his daughter with a private school education and building a nest egg, Ali, 42, said Tuesday at a lottery office in Duluth.

“We will take a short vacation and put the remainder away in savings and retirement,” he said.

Ali said he had a “bunch of tickets” and found one that matched the first five numbers drawn. The winning numbers were 14-23-26-33-35, and the Mega Ball was 40. The man bought the ticket at East Point Lotto, 2925 Headland Drive, Atlanta.

The next Mega Millions drawing is 11 p.m. Tuesday, and the jackpot is $14 million.
