Lawrenceville police have filed charges in a weekend crash that killed an Army veteran on Ga. 316.
Bryan Okeith Hundley was arrested Tuesday and charged with misdemeanor vehicular homicide and failure to maintain lane.
According to an incident report, a witness saw Hundley's Ford Mustang "swerve toward the outside lane then abruptly move back to the inside lane" before colliding with another vehicle near Riverside Parkway.
The second vehicle went off the road and into a nearby wooded area, the report said. The passenger, 41-year-old McDonough resident Jeffrey Bowns, had to be extricated and later died.
More details about the incident were not immediately available.
According to his online obituary, Bowns was a veteran of the United States Army who served in the 82nd Airborne Division and "enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, and scuba diving."
He is survived by a wife and two sons and will be buried at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Kansas.
Hundley, a Duluth resident, was released from the Gwinnett County jail Tuesday after posting $5,796 bond.
