Gwinnett man beaten with brass knuckles in Athens

A Gwinnett man was beaten with brass knuckles and had his car stolen Friday in Athens, according to police reports.

Jacob Orr of Statham is charged with aggravated assault and theft by taking, among other charges, in the incident.

Athens police said Saturday that Joseph Milan of Snellville was parked at the Hampton Inn in Athens when he was struck by Orr.

Police arriving on the scene saw Orr fleeing in the stolen vehicle on W. Broad Streeet. Orr hit a car on Pulaski Street before losing control of the vehicle and crashing into the Community Council on Aging building at the north end of Hull Street. He was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
