The Gwinnett County grandmother accused of drunkenly holding her newborn grandson hostage this month has been released on bond.
Online records show Laurie Morgan, 57, posted $16,900 bond Friday and was released from the Gwinnett County jail. She had been scheduled to appear in court Thursday, Channel 2 Action News reported, but that hearing was waived when a bail agreement was reached.
Morgan was arrested April 6 after an hours-long SWAT standoff at her family's apartment on Noble Forest Drive in Peachtree Corners. According to Gwinnett County police, she got into an argument with her daughter's boyfriend and, just before 4 a.m. that day, walked outside with her month-old grandson and fired a single gunshot.
About four hours later, authorities barged into the home, finding Morgan asleep and the child unharmed. She was charged with reckless conduct and aggravated assault, the latter of which is a felony.
On Thursday, Gwinnett County police released the 911 call Morgan's daughter made during the incident.
"She's saying that if I...she's going to blow her, she's going to blow her brains out if the cops come," she said.
