Gwinnett commissioners approved an intergovernmental agreement with Lawrenceville Tuesday for utility replacements associated with the Park Place Drive Water Main Replacement project. The road improvement project is located along Park Place Drive from State Route 20/Grayson Highway to Simonton Road.
The reason for the utility work is the existing water main has a high break history and has reached its life expectancy. By replacing the water main during road construction, the city and county can avoid coming back later to dig the road up a second time.
A new 8-inch DIP water main will be installed along with new fire hydrants. All 5/8 inch water meters will be replaced with ¾ inch water meters and meter boxes and valve boxes will be adjusted and relocated as needed.
The estimated cost of $427,320 will be funded through the Water and Sewer Renewal and Extension Fund.
