Gwinnett Commissioners agreed earlier this month to the renewal of digital oblique aerial photographic imagery and viewing software on an annual contract with Pictometry International Corporation for $173,527.

Several departments throughout the county depend on this contract and require annual updates of the oblique imagery. The Tax Assessors’ Office requires the updates in order to review changes made to parcels so the valuation of property can be billed appropriately. The Police Department utilizes the images in SWAT callouts and other incidents of high risk to the officers. In addition, the Fire Department requires the imagery for analyzing building structures, identifying hydrants, and other structures.
