The autumn leaves have barely changed, but that is not going to stop the thundering hoofbeats of the coming holiday season.

Exactly a week after Halloween, Gwinnett County will get its Christmas tree. The 30-foot Norway Spruce, from the mountains of North Carolina, will arrive at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse on Nov. 7.

The tree is for the county's 31st annual Lighting of the Tree celebration. The event regularly features local vendors, activities for kids and live entertainment. This year's tree-lighting will be held on Thanksgiving, Nov. 22, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The tree will be officially installed at the courthouse on Nov. 8.
