A building belonging to ALLSTAR Logistics suffered “extensive damage” in an early Sunday morning fire, said Capt. Tommy Rutledge, a spokesman for Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services.

Firefighters responded to the building, located on the 990 block of Buford Drive in Lawrenceville, at 7:01 a.m. A passerby had called 911 reporting flames and smoke coming from the roof of the building.

The metal building had a “working fire” inside, and firefighters had to cut a door open in order to combat the flames, Rutledge said. Nobody was at the truck maintenance facility during the fire, Rutledge said.

The fire originated in a loft area of a break room, and the cause may have been electrical. The floor in the area was unstable, preventing a fire investigator to gain complete access and complete his inspection. At this time, the cause is still undetermined, Rutledge said.
