UPDATE: Five Spice Asian Fusion was re-inspected July 29 and scored a 94/A.

ORIGINAL STORY: A Gwinnett County Asian fusion restaurant had its permit briefly suspended this week after failing a second straight routine health inspection.

Five Spice Asian Fusion, located at 6575 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth, received a 50/U during the Thursday inspection. During its previous routine inspection in May, it scored a 33/U.

During Thursday's evaluation, health inspectors reported observing employees handling vegetables with their bare hands and not using hair restraints. Officials also reported dented cans, washed vegetables being placed back into "soiled" containers, food stored on the floor and a storage shelf "heavily soiled with sauces."

Many of the violations were repeat offenses, the inspection report said.

The restaurant's permit was briefly suspended Thursday, then reinstated after officials completed on-site training. An "informal follow-up inspection" will be completed by July 29, the inspection report said.

A message left for Five Spice's owner was not immediately returned Friday morning.
