Gwinnett Commissioners recently approved a Project Framework Agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation for the engineering phase of a new interchange at I-85 at McGinnis Ferry Road in Suwanee.

The county will contribute $625,000 and GDOT will provide $2.5 million in federal funding. This project is funded 80 percent by the Georgia Department of Transportation and 20 percent by the 2014 SPLOST Program.

The total project, including engineering and construction, is estimated to exceed $10 million requiring a value engineering study. Current estimates from the Atlanta Regional Commission estimates the final cost for the new interchange at $19.3 million.
