Gwinnett Commissioners recently voted to approve a special use permit that will allow for a family personal care home at 1385 Rock Springs Road in Buford. The existing 3,800-square-foot home with six bedrooms, three bathrooms, including one bedroom and bathroom for staff, sits on 1 acre on the south side of Rock Springs Road, east of its intersection with Buford Drive.

The dwelling will be utilized to provide care for five occupants with assistance in day-to-day activities. The applicant intends to reside on site.

Conditions of approval restrict the care to a maximum of five clients residing in the home. No exterior signage advertising the personal care home will be allowed and any new building(s) or building renovations must maintain a traditional residential style, compatible with the homes in the surrounding area. Architectural elevations, building materials and colors are subject to review and approval of the county.
