Gwinnett commissioners approved a one-year contract Tuesday, Sept.1, for Cisco maintenance and support with Prosys Information Systems Inc. The new contract for $800,000 represents a little more than a $100,000 increase over the previous year’s agreement.

The county’s enterprise network and telephone infrastructure is standardized on Cisco equipment and software. The equipment includes network routers and switches, wireless technology, security devices, telephone equipment, etc. Renewal of this contract allows the county to continue to maintain operational efficiency and minimize any down time caused by hardware failures or software issues. The agreement provides next business day replacement during normal business hours, software upgrades and 24-hour phone support.

The increase reflects additional equipment added to the maintenance agreement as a result of existing warranties on the equipment expiring, and the purchase of additional hardware, software and licenses related to capital and operational projects.
