Gwinnett commissioners approved a 90-day contract extension for $97,376 on May 19 for the purchase of public safety uniforms. The contract will provide uniforms for the Department of Corrections, Fire and Emergency Services, Police and Sheriff departments.

Fire and EMS will receive $46,000 of the total for protective gear, with $38,876 going to the police department. The previous annual contract for uniforms totaled $405,948 with $370,528 actually spent. This extension is requested accommodate changes to some of the uniform specifications and to allow time to re-bid these items.
