Gwinnett Commissioners recently approved an intergovernmental agreement with Snellville to jointly use 2017 SPLOST funds for several transportation projects. The work will include intersection improvements of North Road at Ridgedale Drive and State Route 124/Scenic Highway at Wisteria Drive as well as a portion of the preliminary engineering costs for the safety and alignment project at Tree Lane.

Gwinnett will manage these projects. Snellville will reimburse the county $463,757, or 19 percent of the 2017 SPLOST project costs. Gwinnett’s contribution is $1,977,068.

The county’s financial contribution is limited to items necessary to construct a public transportation improvement, including asphalt, concrete, curb and gutter, grading, drainage, intersection and traffic signal upgrades (crosswalks, pedestrian actuated countdown timers, and handicap ramps). Gwinnett will not reimburse for enhancements like landscaping, decorative lighting, way finding signage or benches.
