Registration is under way for Cherokee County’s “Guns & Hoses 5K,” with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office and Cherokee Fire & Emergency Services raising funds for their chosen causes.

When people register for the Recreation and Parks Agency event, they chose which department to support. The Sheriff’s Office will raise money for the Cherokee Sheriffs Foundation, dedicated to helping families in the county. Fire & Emergency Services will raise funds for the Goshen Valley Boys Ranch, a nonprofit home serving young men in the state foster care system.

The event begins with a Fun Run at 7:30 a.m. and a 5K at 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Hobgood Park, 6688 Bells Ferry Road, Woodstock. Pre-registration fees of $10 for the Fun Run and $25 for the 5K are due by Feb. 8; after that date, late registration fees are $15 and $30, respectively. Sponsorships also are available.

Race packets can be picked up at the Recreation Center from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Feb. 21; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Feb. 22; or starting at 7 a.m. on race day. Information: https://bit.ly/2EZLR2R
