Thousands of  people walking for a good cause paid off for The Georgia Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The chapter recently raised more than $970,000 during the Great Strides walk, which benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's programs and research.

Last year, the walk raised more than $830,000.

Great Strides: Taking Steps to Cure Cystic Fibrosis is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest national fundraising event.
