The Grayson City Council voted to adopt a fiscal year 2016 budget totaling $1,051,115. The 2015 budget topped out at $978,405, making the 2016 increase the first time the city’s budget has exceeded $1 million.

The city’s millage rate will remain the same for 2016 at 2.10 mills representing $279,685 in revenue from property taxes. Additional revenue includes $200,000 from utility franchise fees, $165,000 from alcohol taxes, $75,000 in permit fees and $40,000 from cell tower income.

Expenses include $175,000 due to new construction for sanitation, $163,851 in city employee salaries, $96,860 for lawn care, $97,200 for security patrol and code enforcement, $90,000 for planning and development and $75,000 for street lights.
