A $10,000 grant from the Atlanta Community Food Bank has funded “Grab n Go” breakfast carts and accessories for the portable breakfast program at four Cherokee County schools.

The carts, where students can pick up quick and portable breakfasts on their way in from school buses, are for Dean Rusk Middle School, Carmel Elementary School, Clark Creek Elementary School STEM Academy and Woodstock High School, officials said.

Cherokee’s School Nutrition Department also received grant funds from the Dairy Alliance to purchase the carts for Macedonia Elementary School and River Ridge High School.

The Dairy Alliance sponsored a Grab n Go breakfast competition between Mill Creek and Dean Rusk middle schools during National School Breakfast Week in February. Dean Rusk, the winner, will get a visit in May from Freddie the Falcon, mascot of the Atlanta Falcons.
