DeKalb County recently accepted a federal grant that will cover half the cost of new bulletproof vests for its police department.

The $14,300 U.S. Department of Justice grant must be matched with the same amount from the county. The police department, the District Attorney’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office will split the money to buy vests for their employees at between $500 and $1,500 each.
