The Sandy Springs Police Department has received a state grant to help develop programs to reduce car crashes, injuries and deaths from unsafe driving practices.

The city will share the $3 million grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety with 20 other jurisdictions that also have high rates of fatal accidents and crashes with injuries.

The program will focus on drivers impaired by drugs and alcohol, speeders and motorists who fail to wear seat belts.
