Who says girls can't rock?

The kickoff for Girls Rock Camp (ATL) registration will feature a show by the Atlanta-based bluegrass group, Roxie Watson, and country singer, Hannah Thomas  later this month. The "Women Rock!" show begins at 8 p.m. March 31 at the Five Spot, 1123 Euclid Avenue.

Attendee can win free CDs, t-shirts, tickets and backstage passes to an upcoming Indigo Girls concert.

Roxie Watson is a five-piece string band that plays “alterna-grass,” a mix of elements of old country, Appalachian roots music, hymns and bluegrass.  In 2009, Thomas was named Top Female Artist by GeorgiaCountry.com and Songwriter of the Year by Atlanta Country Music.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and admission is $10.

Proceeds  benefit the nonprofit  Girls Rock Camp ( ATL)   that mentors young girls and teaches them to play instruments, form bands, write original songs, and perform in a live concert. The goal is to encourage freedom of expression and improve self esteem.
